Founded in 1908, wholesale dental distributor, J&S Davis, has been bought back under family ownership and in the transition, implemented Azzure’s Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP software solution to simplify distribution, apply electronic ordering and improve business processes.
Daniel Davis, great nephew and grandson of founders, Joe and Solomon, has become the third-generation owner of J&S Davis Limited, having purchased the company from Finnish dental equipment provider, the Planmeca Group. With the move, J&S Davis has rolled out a new software solution from ERP providers, Azzure, to seamlessly migrate the business from its previous owners and manage operations.
Davis, who is Immediate Past President of the British Dental Health Foundation, explains why J&S Davis needed to implement a new system – and quickly. “The previous owners’ ERP system was much bigger than we needed; we had to adopt some complicated procedures to work around its intricaciesk.”
IT software providers, Azzure, gave J&S Davis the answer, implementing Microsoft Dynamics NAV across the organisation in just under four months from start to finish. “I looked at six or so solutions, and spoke to three of them in detail about cost and time to implement. Azzure’s honesty and business ethic appealed to me and led us to partner with them,” explains Davis.
With interactive, electronic ordering, allowing J&S Davis to offer customers a more responsive service, and the capability in place to better manage and report on the business, Davis’ focus is now on growing the business. “We’ve gone live with ten seats straight away and when we move to new premises in the New Year, that will increase. We’ll implement the system’s CRM functionality too, which will allow our sales team to deliver the same innovative customer service the company was founded on,” he concludes.
