London, UK. January, 18, 2013 – Designed to address the massive storage requirements of ‘Big Data’, X-IO Technologies has launched the ISE Station XL, an ultra-dense and highly energy-efficient enterprise storage platform.

The ISE Station XL is designed specifically to accelerate enterprise applications and comes pre-configured with a starting capacity of one petabyte and delivers over one million IOPs.

Designed for datacentre operations and cloud-based service providers who need both high performance and high capacity, the ISE Station XL provides built-in support for major virtualisation engines from Citrix, VMware, and Microsoft, removing SAN controller bottlenecks and complexity from large-scale virtualisation architectures.

Helping to meet stringent space and energy-efficiency demands of the datacentre, the entire package is housed in just four 42U racks.  As a result, the ISE Station XL consumes only 34.56 square feet (3.21 square meters) of floor space and just 28 kilowatts of energy, while producing a heat load of only 95,536 BTUss, one of the lowest power and cooling requirements in the industry.

According to Steve Sicola, chief technology officer at X-IO, the new solution provides as yet unmatched price/performance along with the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) in the industry.  He stated: “Since storage is the single most significant component of the cost of deployment in large-scale datacenter environments and cloud services, we are tuning the ISE Station product line to focus on reducing that cost-of-deployment significantly—at minimum, by a third—while guaranteeing capacity and performance-at-scale.”

Fully compatible with today’s leading operating systems and hypervisors, the innovative design of the ISE Station XL makes it easily expandable, beyond 1 petabyte, when needed.  It also comes with a unique five-year hardware warranty.
