Check Point Full Disk Encryption R72 Achieves UK Government Certification Encryption solution's CCTM accreditation confirms suitability for mission-critical deployments

Released: 19th November 2009
Publisher: Check Point

19 November 2009 - Check Point Software Technologies, the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that Check Point Endpoint Security Full Disk Encryption R72 has been awarded the CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM) certification.

The Check Point Endpoint Security Full Disk Encryption R72 solution will be listed as an approved product in the CESG Directory of Infosec Approved Products for supply to the public sector, including local authorities, NHS, education, criminal justice and police, as well as Central Government and Ministry of Defence. The CCTM award is also a welcome assurance for private sector users.

Full Disk Encryption provides the highest level of data security for laptops and PCs through a combination of pre-boot authentication and strong encryption algorithms. The solution can be deployed independently or as part of Check Point Endpoint Security, the first and only single agent that combines all the critical components for total security on the endpoint.

The solution joins Check Point's Endpoint Media Encryption product and the UTM-1 Edge appliance in the CESG directory, as both solutions gained certification earlier in 2009. Check Point was also awarded the Common Criteria EAL4 certification for Endpoint Security Full Disk Encryption, Pointsec PC 6.3.1 in August 2009.

This certification revalidates Endpoint Full Disk Encryption through CCTM for the most recent release.

Nick Lowe, Check Point's managing director for Northern Europe said: "Check Point continues to be committed to taking its products through independent and industry recognised certifications to show that they comply with the highest standards required by the UK public sector and industry. Having three of our solutions certified by CCTM is an excellent endorsement of their all-round performance."

In addition to Full Disk Encryption for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux based computers, Check Point offers customers port and removable media protection through Check Point Media Encryption and mobile phone encryption through Pointsec Mobile. Check Point encryption products are quick and simple to deploy, scale to any size organization, are proven in many industry and government deployments around the world, and support the broadest set of platforms.

The CCTM scheme verifies the claims security vendors make for their solutions for data confidentiality, integrity and availability in the modern government IT environment. Its test methodology is uniformly applied to all candidate products and services to ensure that certification provides a consistent and objective quality benchmark for network managers and purchasers. It is operated by CESG, the Information Assurance arm of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). More information is available at http://www.cctmark.gov.uk/
