SAND Searchable Archive basically does three things:
Of course, it is more complicated than this and there are more facilities but this is
the kernel of what SAND Searchable Archive does. In effect, it allows you to turn
a 10Tb data warehouse into a 1Tb warehouse with a 1Tb archive (or better). The
cost implications of such an approach should be obvious.
In this report we will describe how SAND Searchable Archive does this, as well as
the additional features and functions that are available. In practice, the product
reuses technology that has been employed by SAND in its SAND Analytic Server
product for a number of years and this paper discusses the data management
principles that underlie both of these products as well as the technological features
specific to SAND Searchable Archive.
