Redwood Shores, Calif., January 10, 2013: iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), the global Wi-Fi and enterprise mobility services leader, today announced the availability of the iPass Mobility Cost Savings Calculator as a tool for its channel partners to aid lead generation and drive business. The online Mobility Cost Savings Calculator enables resellers to educate their customers on the achievable cost savings of subscribing to a Bring-Your-Own-Network (BYON) solution in order to support mobile workers in a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) environment. Also launching is the iPass Wi-Fi cost index report. This provides the average Wi-Fi and mobile broadband data costs by region and looks at real-world travel scenarios for business travellers, and the impact of that usage to an organisation’s bottom line. These tools enable the channel to outline the impact of unchecked mobile data roaming costs to businesses, helping to drive sales across a channel partners' customer base.
Mobile workers now carry an average of 3.5 devices when they travel, and 43 percent report experiencing smartphone bill shock, which, when passed on to their employer, results in significant costs. With the Mobility Cost Savings Calculator, resellers can help businesses identify how to reduce spiralling mobile data plan costs by providing a comprehensive cost-savings report. Being able to provide this kind of insight and support to customers will help resellers to stand out from the crowd and demonstrate the need for a BYON strategy.
Rene Hendrikse, VP EMEA, iPass, states, “By offering this tool to our valued partners we are providing them with a new avenue for driving business and lead generation. We’ve all seen and heard about the BYOD trend. However, businesses are starting to realise that although they don’t have the device costs anymore, connectivity fees are going through the roof. Using the iPass Mobility Cost Savings Calculator, resellers can demonstrate to customers how they can slash connectivity costs by offering global Wi-Fi access through a BYON approach.”
iPass provides partners with promotional text and graphics for their website and a dedicated landing page to the Mobility Cost Savings Calculator. Each partner organisation also receives support from their iPass account manager to track sales progress.
“Our customers know that mobile working increases productivity. However, it also increases mobile data roaming costs, making them difficult to control and complex to account for within an organization. While many businesses already approach us to discuss how to handle this in a management or security context, many enterprises are still struggling with the financial impact of network roaming costs. For enterprises with increasing numbers of devices that require the support of multiple networks, a BYON plan with global Wi-Fi roaming access reduces the cost of mobile data roaming. Providing access to the iPass Mobility Cost Savings calculator has enabled us to demonstrate this without question to our customers, expanding the conversations that we can have with existing clients whilst also attracting new ones,” said Hannah Cunningham, Marketing Manager, Cisilion.
