London, UK, 14th December 2012: Leading independent event organiser, Clarion Events, has today announced the shortlist for the MasterCard Transport Ticketing Awards: recognising innovation and achievements in the European smart ticketing industry. The voting is now open for senior professionals from the International transport ticketing community to select a winner from the shortlist. The awards will be announced live at the annual Transport Ticketing Conference and Expo, Europe’s largest transport ticketing and fare collection event, which will be taking place from 28th to 30th January 2013.

This year’s categories are as follows:
Best overall service implementation – This award recognises system integrators that have developed a truly innovative transport ticketing programme, rewarding excellence in service offering, delivery and marketing. The nominees are:
Best bank-card ticketing scheme - This award recognises financial institutions and operators that have successfully launched new EMV (Europay Mastercard Visa) transport ticketing services in the past 12 months: helping to pave the way for open-loop contactless bank card ticketing by encouraging higher usage rates and ease of use. The nominees are:
Best smart card ticketing service - This award recognises transport operators and local authorities that have launched a successful smart card ticketing programme in the last 12 months; taking into account the service user-adoption, duration and sustainability. The nominees are:
Most successful mobile ticketing programme - This award recognises the best deployment of NFC (Near-Field Communication) as a ticketing technology; taking into account service adoption, consumer experience and innovative approaches to implementing the technology. The nominees are:
Ticketing technology of the year - This award recognises ticketing technologies and solution companies that have developed a brand new product which is set to revolutionise ticketing as we know it. The nominees are:
