In this paper we will consider what is required to enable cloud-managed integration from a technical perspective. Much of the base functionality needed will be similar to that required of any data integration environment but we will not dwell on those details, focusing instead on those elements of a solution that differ from traditional offerings.

Following this discussion we will focus on the data integration solution provided by Dell Boomi, which is a cloud-managed integration product, where integrations are built, managed and monitored from the cloud, with runtime engines (called Atoms) that can execute the integrations in the cloud or on-premise as required. This will consist of two sections, where the first is quantitative and the second is qualitative.
