Jaspersoft, the intelligence inside apps and business processes, today announced that Storage Fusion has chosen to use Jaspersoft in its SFA (Storage Fusion Analyze) software to analyse large Storage Area Networks (SANs). Storage Fusion needed an agile presentation layer to act as the front-end for its storage analytics software and after extensive evaluation selected Jaspersoft’s JasperServer as the best technological and commercial fit. Storage Fusion Analyze is now assisting the world’s leading vendors, system integrators, value added resellers and large enterprises to optimize their storage assets.
Storage Fusion is an independent software vendor specialising in the delivery of automated storage reporting and analytics for storage consultants and enterprises. The back-end of the Storage Fusion software was created on the storage analytics expertise of the founder members and continues to be developed in-house by their dedicated highly-skilled technical team. What was needed was scalable, easy-to-use front-end presentation software which the company wanted to source from a third-party to enable it to concentrate on its core competencies.
“We wanted to create our own dashboards and reports so that they would be perfectly suited to our solution and to our clients’ needs. After an evaluation period, where we examined the majority of open source business intelligence products, we found that Jaspersoft’s JasperServer technology suited us the best. So that, combined with the licensing model we were offered made the decision to adopt Jaspersoft as our front-end capability quite straightforward,” said Peter White, Operations Director at Storage Fusion.
“Deploying Jaspersoft proved remarkably simple; within just four months we were able to deliver a demonstration or proof-of-concept version of the software. Since 2008 we have continued to develop our own software and as Jaspersoft introduces new features we adopt them accordingly,” continued White.
According to Neil Barry, Sales Manager, UK & Ireland at Jaspersoft, “To date, SFA has analysed 1.3 Exabytes of storage, discovered $70 million worth of unconfigured data and $162 million worth of unallocated storage. We are delighted to be working with such an innovative company and to see our software being rolled out right across the globe to Storage Fusion customers.”
SFA now supports over 300 storage arrays from the leading vendors including EMC, HP, IBM, Netapp and HDS and is used globally by Storage Fusion customers. The organisation’s customers fall in to two categories. The first includes storage vendors, VARs, storage consultants and systems integrators who use SFA as a pre-sales tool to analyse the existent storage infrastructure and suggest where efficiencies could be made. The second encompasses large end–users such as banks or telecom providers where the storage managers or CIOs use the software to understand how they can optimize the storage assets and make cost savings. The software is completely scalable and can even be run on an iPad.
The Jaspersoft front-end presentation layer is separated from the back-end analytical data layer by a middleware layer acting as security to ensure that customers’ storage data is never exposed to unauthorised users and remains safe in transit between the different layers. Presentation is across five dashboards and there are over 60 pre-defined reports with an additional facility for customised reporting too.
