Released: 25th June 2013
Nottingham, 25th June 2013 – Over 300 HR professionals from across the UK gathered for the MidlandHR Technology Impact Awards at the Celtic Manor this month to celebrate the success stories resulting from HR and payroll related projects, which have delivered real value.
The MidlandHR Technology Impact awards, which are now in their fourth year, aim to highlight the effective use of HR technology in delivering value and driving organisational excellence.
Commenting on the record number of entries this year, Declan McGrath, managing director at MidlandHR, explains: “These awards prove that specialist HR and payroll technology plays a vital role in supporting strategic HR and delivering real value. The sheer volume of entries illustrates the increasing number of organisations that are realising significant return on investment and sustainable savings through the adoption of specialist solutions like iTrent.
“Legislative changes, such as RTI and auto-enrolment, have been placing huge additional demands on HR and payroll departments up and down the country, so it is particularly impressive that we have had so many outstanding entrants this year. The winning entries all showed how a best practice approach, combined with innovation and determination, can achieve exceptional results. It’s clear that successful organisations are increasingly treating HR as a top strategic priority and that HR teams and supporting technology are crucial to delivering this.”
Winners from across the seven award categories included Caerphilly County Borough Council, which won the award for Outstanding Strategic Vision and Project Planning. Wakefield Council was awarded for Greatest Organisational Impact, with The Telegraph Media Group being ‘highly commended’.
Meanwhile, CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) pipped Bethany Christian Trust to the post as winner of the Most Innovative Use of HR Technology.
Jabbar Sardar, Director of HR and Organisational Development, CAFCASS comments: “We are delighted to have won this award. iTrent is a key part of our strategy to support business innovation and efficiency, and forms an integral part in removing paper based processes from CAFCASS. The system has allowed the organisation to make efficiency savings of almost £200k, and has enhanced the service staff and managers receive. We have experienced greater efficiencies through the key components of our system, including online payslips, travel expenses, annual and training bookings and sickness absence. We are also able to use the data held in iTrent to inform planning and identify potential areas for further efficiencies.”
The independent judging panel of well-respected industry experts comprised: Professor Carole Tansley, Professor of Innovative HR at Nottingham Business School and lead project researcher for the CIPD; Karen Thomson MSc FCIPP, Associate Director of Policy, Research and Strategic Visibility for the CIPP; Hazel Williams, Senior Lecturer in Human Resources at Nottingham Trent University; Dr Stan Maklan, Senior Lecturer in Strategic Marketing at Cranfield Business School and an expert in product value in use; and Martin Kornacki, Editor at Payroll World. The awards were hosted by comedian, Dominic Holland.
