4 July 2013 - Advanced Business Solutions (Advanced), a market leading business applications and services provider, will demonstrate its budgeting and forecasting solution, Collaborative Planning, on stand 11 at the CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy) Annual Conference at The Novotel London West Hotel, on the 10-11 July 2013. For the first time, Advanced will introduce the ‘lean mean budgeting machine’, an interactive robot which will be on the stand for the first day of the conference to promote the benefits of the software.
This year’s CIPFA conference takes place at a pivotal time for public services. With no let-up in budget cuts, and few signs of growth, it’s time for a great leap forward by public sector leaders. The conference will bring commentators and thought-leaders to the main stage to explore new thinking from across the private and public sector, in the UK and abroad.
Collaborative Planning is a real-time budget preparation, forecasting and monitoring solution which simplifies the entire budgeting process making it easier to input and analyse information. The solution provides real-time information through a single-based web system and will allow budget managers across the organisation to compare budgets with forecasts. Compared with spreadsheet packages, Collaborative Planning delivers time savings of 50-60% on budgeting processes.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has been using Collaborative Planning since January 2012 and has already delivered more than £1million savings due to the transparency and accuracy of the solution. Warrington Borough council has also recently implemented the solution and aims to cut financial reporting time from three months to two weeks due to the ease-of-use and flexibility of the system.
Shaer Halewood, Chief Accountant from Warrington Borough Council says, “The processes that we currently use for budgeting and forecasting are time-consuming and cumbersome and aren’t empowering budget managers. Our aim, with this software, is to allow budget managers to take ownership of their own budgets and improve access to information. The solution will also allow us to cut financial reporting time from three months to two weeks.”
Advanced will be holding live demonstrations of its Collaborative Planning solution at the Conference and the ‘lean, mean, budgeting machine’, an interactive robot, will promote the benefits of the software.
Dean Dickinson, Managing Director of Advanced Business Solutions (Public Sector & Enterprise Division) says, “We are seeing more and more organisations looking for budgeting and forecasting solutions to improve error-prone and manually-intensive processes. At a time when it is pivotal for public sector organisations to cut costs and tighten purse strings, it is not surprising that organisations are increasing their investment into solutions that can provide an accurate and real-time view of current and forecasted spend.”

About CIPFA Annual Conference http://www.cipfaannualconference.org.uk/
This year’s CIPFA conference takes place at a pivotal time for public services. With no let-up in budget cuts, and few signs of growth, it’s time for a great leap forward by public sector leaders.
We need to reimagine how we design public services, how to deliver them sensitively and fairly – and ask difficult questions about what kind of state we want.
The conference will bring commentators and thought-leaders to the main stage to explore new thinking from across the private and public sector, in the UK and abroad. Leading professionals from the breadth of the public services will share their knowledge in a series of practical workshops.
