Adaptris ECX Engineers a Winning Electronic Trading Solution for South West Highways

Released: 7th March 2013
Publisher: RealWire

London - UK, March 7, 2013: Adaptris ECX (Electronic Construction Exchange) today announced that South West Highways, a leading provider of highway maintenance and civil engineering construction, has implemented Adaptris technology to facilitate an electronic trading solution set to enable it to realise efficient e-commerce with its supply chain partners.

Application-agnostic, simple and scalable, Adaptrix ECX will enable South West Highways to reap the rewards associated with e-invoicing as it looks to automate its purchase to payment process, while cutting costs and streamlining processes. While assisting South West Highways in its effort to eradicate paper from the supply chain process, the implementation of Adaptris ECX will also create increased accuracy of electronic data, faster processing of business documents and critically reduce costs. With South West Highways being a prolific provider of services to local authorities, such significant business benefits come at a critical time, where the public purse has never been more strained and providing cost effective services to the public sector is of utmost importance to remaining attractive and competitive.

Commenting as the implementation goes live, Keith Mason, Financial Director at South West Highways said: “When we first considered traditional EDI projects, we were concerned about having to potentially commit large amounts of internal resources to make the project a success. However, working with the Adaptris ECX team and its unparalleled experience and understanding of the construction e-marketplace, we soon realised that - unlike EDI - its simplicity, ease of use and straightforward onboarding process were designed to quickly and efficiently set up all of our supply chain participants, with minimal input from us.”

Keith continued: “Contrary to our previous fears, by welcoming all supply chain partners to participate - irrespective of their size or current technology set up -  in the complete automation of what was previously a very inefficient paper-based task, we have in fact managed to free up a number of employees. These employees are now able to focus on higher value, more rewarding business tasks.”

Adaptris ECX is independent of any construction sector solutions provider and has been designed to be flexible and agile, with rapid roll-out capabilities, making it applicable for the smallest of companies to the largest. With Adaptris ECX, electronic trading can be rapidly configured to suit existing systems, preferred business processes, and the nuances of processes employed in all supply chain partners. However, being the first truly agnostic trading hub, Adaptris ECX also has over 300 adapters at its disposal for rapid, simple integration with new trading partners.

Matthew Jones, Managing Director of Adaptris ECX commented: “Adaptris ECX is going from strength to strength. South West Highways has clearly seen our commitment to creating a community of buyers and suppliers that is mutually beneficial to other construction contractors and house builders, and come onboard.” He continued: “We see this successful implementation at South West Highways and the growing e-invoice community as a springboard to deliver a wider spectrum of e-commerce services to the construction industry.”
