In this paper we will describe some of the key analytic areas that are important to telecommunications companies and discuss the argument in favour of using third party analytic application providers for at least some of the functions that are required. These will typically fall into the category of data marts and we will consider what sort of data warehousing technology would be most suitable to support such environments. We will conclude with a brief case study of Polystar, a provider of mobile infrastructure solutions for LTE operators, and discuss why they chose Infobright as the database platform for their analytic applications.
