Platinum Partner status rewards McKesson for the innovation it has brought to its application of the Oracle solution suite; its depth and breadth of product knowledge and technical expertise, as well as its commitment to providing the organisations’ mutual clients within the UK healthcare sector with the best possible solutions to drive operational efficiency, capitalise on opportunities and gain competitive advantage.

McKesson’s experience in delivering Oracle’s E-Business Suite (EBS) solution has predominantly been through the implementation and management of the NHS Electronic Staff Record (ESR). A 10 year contract was awarded by the Department of Health and full rollout of the solution was completed in 2008. McKesson continues to operate, support and develop ESR – and in 2011, the solution was upgraded to EBS Release 12, making it the largest deployment of its kind in the world. Oracle now uses McKesson as a Release 12 reference site to demonstrate the very latest Oracle functionality.
The ESR project has been a powerful catalyst for innovation at McKesson, but the relationship has undoubtedly been reciprocal – the NHS were somewhat ahead of the game in terms of commissioning the world’s largest, single instance workforce community cloud and McKesson has provided the technology to enable this innovation within the NHS.
McKesson has further expanded on the work it has done on ESR by building a “best of breed” application development lifecycle methodology; offering increased security, audit-ability, and traceability over all changes to multiple products being developed and maintained in parallel. The tools that support this process improve the software development process for customers on Oracle solutions; it allows developers to work on the latest version of the system at all times.
McKesson has also developed automated cloning, deployment and configuration tools which dramatically reduce the level of human intervention; leading to a significant reduction in errors (not to mention staff time and resources) as well as the increased ability to work across multiple environments.
