Musgrove Park Hospital, part of Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, is benefitting from the use of the Ultimate™ labelling system from Episys, the global information technology solutions and services company, to label stock items for both Wards and Clinics.  In addition, Musgrove Park Hospital has successfully implemented the Ultimate Approvals module increasing the control of all labels produced. 

Ultimate™ enables Musgrove Park Hospital to design labels which meet the high standard of medicine labelling.  Labels can be printed on request whenever they are  needed and in the desired quantity. The solution also includes the Approvals Module, a feature that provides a structured electronic methodology for approving label designs and database records.  Electronic signatures are used to authorise all approvals. 

Joy Rowe, Technical Services Pharmacist at Musgrove Hospital said, “The Approval Module is very important to us and was purchased in response to an MHRA requirement for control of new and up-versioned labels. We decided to implement an electronic system of control and as we were already using Episys, the Approvals Module
seemed the best way forward.  By using the Approvals Module we can track and record all changes made to ensure only approved labels and database records can be  printed. Items that are approved cannot be changed without going back through the approval process.”

We are the largest General Hospital in Somerset and serve a population of over 340,000.
