Marlow, UK, 14 November 2013 – Softcat has won ‘Large Supplier of the Year’ for the second year running at the UK IT Industry Awards, following a year which has seen its revenues reach £400m, a 30% increase on last year. Managing director Colin Brown accepted the award at the black tie ceremony in London’s Battersea Park Events Arena, which was attended by over 1,300 guests.
Jimmy Carr hosted the awards, perhaps feeling a little too close for comfort onstage with HMRC as they accepted ‘IT Department of the Year’. The UK IT Industry Awards is run by Computing Magazine and BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), both benchmarks for industry excellence. The ‘Large Supplier of the Year’ accolade recognises Softcat’s organisational excellence and its achievements in the provision of infrastructure technology and services to private and public organisations.
Colin Brown, Softcat’s managing director, said: “To be recognised in this way by two such significant IT industry institutions is a huge honour, especially two years in a row. It’s a result of exemplary employee performance across the board, from our technical teams who are continually innovating and developing our offerings, to our sales teams who just remain incredibly motivated to deliver world-class customer service. I’m very proud of everyone.”
Other winners on the night included HM Revenue and Customs for IT Department of the Year, LV for IT Employer of the Year, the University of Derby for Network/Infrastructure Project of the Year, Network Rail for Innovative Mobile App of the Year, and Richard Warner (LV) for CIO of the year.
The UK IT Industry Awards set the benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the UK computer industry, rewarding ‘significant contributions by UK organisations to the development and deployment of innovative IT systems that improve business operation or enhance public services’. They distinguish individuals, projects, organisations and technologies that have made the most significant contributions in the use, development and deployment of IT.
