Channels -> Resellers
Released: 28th June 2013
Marlow, UK, 28 June 2013 – At the 2013 Europe’s Best Workplaces conference in Ireland this weekend, Softcat attained a much sought-after position in the continent’s most expansive study of workplace excellence, Great Place to Work. The award-winning employer came 10th in the medium category for 50-500 employees. This most recent award underlines Softcat’s 4th place in the UK ‘Great Place to Work’ listing earlier this month.
This is the second year in a row that the IT provider has ranked in the European list, emphasising its consistent investment in employee welfare. Since inception, Softcat has placed the happiness of its employees at the heart of its operations, believing that contented employees lead to satisfied customers. This strategy has clearly paid off for the leading channel reseller, whose workforce has now bloomed to 500 and whose growth shows no sign of slowing down.
The listing confirms Softcat as the 10th best medium-sized workplace in over 19 countries – no mean feat considering that 2,119 companies participated in the Best Workplaces study, and places were allocated following the assessment of over half a million employee surveys.
Softcat’s HR and recruitment manager Shelley Ferrigno said, “Customer satisfaction depends wholly on our employees’ performance – this is a core belief of our company, and as this latest achievement indicates, it has served us well. Employees are our number one priority: they’re well looked after, satisfied, and motivated to provide outstanding customer service.” She added, “We’ve created a community rather than just a workforce, where people feel fully supported and they can see how they contribute to Softcat’s success. When employees feel invested in a company, they work harder to achieve the company’s goals, which become their own.”
Great Place to Work launched the first ‘Best Companies to Work For’ list in conjunction with Fortune magazine in the United States and Exame in Brazil more than 20 years ago. Great Place to Work now recognises workplaces in nearly 50 countries. For the 2013 Best Workplaces in Europe lists, Great Place to Work analysed data provided by more than 2,100 companies that employee more than a million people.
"Companies in this year's ranking are developing organizational cultures dedicated to building trust and camaraderie among their employees," said Robert Levering, co-founder and global CEO of Great Place to Work. “Inclusion on this list reflects companies’ commitment to continuously improving the quality of life of employees and setting new standards for organisations in the future."
Colin Brown, Softcat’s managing director, said, “You don’t win an award like this without having every employee on board. The listing is based on the quality of employee surveys, so we know that our workforce truly is one of the most satisfied in Europe. To be recognised amongst the greatest workplaces in Europe, by such a long-established and respected awards body, means a great deal to us, and will motivate us to keep investing in our employees’ welfare.”
Softcat’s turnover has risen year on year since its inception, a fact that Softcat attributes largely to the hard work and commitment of its satisfied employees. Already in 2013, the company has won major partner awards from the likes of NetApp, Veeam HP, and on the back of its proven success, has secured contracts with organisations as large as the NHS.
Softcat (www.softcat.com) is a leading provider of software licensing, hardware, security and related IT services. Softcat, founded in 1993 by the then chairman and majority shareholder Peter Kelly, remains privately owned and currently employs more than 500 people. It achieved a turnover in excess of £307 million in its last financial year and has been profitable since inception, resulting in a strong balance sheet and very firm financial foundations.
The company sells and supports products and solutions from all the world's leading IT companies. On all its portfolio products and solutions it offers a full range of services, including advice and guidance, technical design, product sourcing, implementation, support and project management.
