Channels -> Resellers
Released: 12th June 2013
London, UK (12 June 2013) – snom Technology AG, a leading developer of IP desktop business phones, announced today that it will market and sell HP’s Lync-optimised desktop IP phones.
snom is an HP channel partner and will market and promote the HP 4110 and HP 4120 IP phones through its global network of distributors and resellers. snom and its partners begin selling the phones in June.
snom, which already has the distinction of offering the most complete line of Lync-qualified IP phones, is now able to offer its enterprise customers an even broader portfolio of IP endpoint devices with HP’s Lync-optimised IP phones.
“As the market for Microsoft Lync expands, businesses require the flexibility to deploy solutions that fit their specific needs, whether that’s Lync-optimised devices or Lync-qualified devices,” said Michael Knieling, chief operating officer of snom Technology AG in Berlin. “We can offer more choices to our customers, whatever their needs may be.”
HP 4110 and 4120 IP phones are optimised for Lync, which means they are designed from the ground up according to Microsoft Lync specifications, and are pre-installed with Microsoft’s Lync software, work only in a Lync UC environment and feature tight integration with Microsoft applications including calendars and contacts.
In contrast, Lync-qualified phones, such as snom’s work in a Lync environment as well as an IP-PBX environment, are customisable, have their own firmware and may have their own unique calling features distinct from Lync.
By partnering with HP, snom will deliver to its customers enterprise capabilities including PC/phone integration, click-to-call and Lync server integrated manageability. These features, currently unavailable on Lync qualified devices, will also be uniquely available for snom UC edition phones later this year.
HP will provide tier 1 support for the 4110 and 4120 IP phones, snom and its partners will be responsible for go-to-market activities, including sales and marketing of the phones.
snom is serving the fast-growing market for Microsoft Lync, a complete unified communications platform that connects people via IM, voice, video and meetings, and offers a consistent experience across multiple devices.
HP’s 4110 and 4120 Lync-optimised IP phones join snom’s lineup of Lync-qualified IP phones: the 3xx series UC edition phone, the 7xx series UC edition phone and the 8xx series UC edition phone.
Founded in 1996, snom Technology AG develops and manufactures VoIP telephones and related equipment based on the IETF open standard SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). All of snom’s products are fully interoperable with leading communications equipment vendors. snom customers and partners benefit from the interoperability and flexibility that snom telephones offer, including plug-and-play integration and universal compatibility with standards-based SIP VoIP platforms, applications or services. In September 2011, the snom 300 and snom 821 became the first SIP phones to achieve “Qualified for Microsoft Lync” status – Microsoft’s top distinction for fully-tested interoperability and compatibility with Microsoft Lync. snom’s leadership continues today, based on its six-phone UC edition portfolio – the industry’s largest and most extensive family of standards-based business phones qualified for Microsoft Lync enterprise environments.
