An estimated £10bn could be slashed from UK businesses’ total travel bill with high definition video conferencing solutions, says David Galton-Fenzi at value-added distributor Zycko.
Businesses that install LifeSize high-definition video conferencing solutions from Zycko report travelling up to 50 per cent less in their first year. With business travel spending in the UK reaching £25bn in 2011, there is the potential for huge savings now that eight out of ten businesses receive at least 2Mbps internet download speeds, according to the Office of National Statistics’ latest figures.
It has also been estimated that work-related travel accounts for 10 per cent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. With LifeSize video conferencing, users report up to 12 per cent reduction in carbon output thanks to less travel, which means there are significant environmental benefits and further financial benefits for companies required to buy credits under the government’s Carbon Reduction Commitment.
“Conducting business face to face is essential to maintaining strong relationships, which is why travel is a long-established part of everyday business life – think salesmen on the road, client meetings or company meetings,” says David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director, Zycko.
“But costs add up very quickly and travel time impacts on productivity and profitability. With high-definition video conferencing you can cut business travel and associated costs and actually have more meetings, more often. The benefits are simply too strong to ignore.”
LifeSize's industry-leading HD video conferencing solutions are reliable, high-quality and hugely scalable while remaining cost-effective - representing an excellent business opportunity for resellers. Zycko estimates for every pound spent on the end-point solution there’s up to eight pounds of additional business to be found in the network behind the solution.
Zycko recently launched a newvideo network and mobility solution incorporating ten best-in-breed vendors. The launch was in response to reseller demand for an end-to-end enterprise-class video network and reflects Zycko’s philosophy of solution interoperability.
The video network and mobility solution includes: high definition video conferencing, streaming and recording from LifeSize; WAN optimisation and application delivery controller from Riverbed; WAN virtualisation from Talari Networks; mobile video, BYOD provisioning and monitoring from Meru Networks and Meraki; and storage from Hitachi Data Systems, Huawei, Overland Storage and VM-aware storage specialist, Tintri.
