Imago introduces UbiCast into the Rich Media Capture and Broadcast space

Imago Group plc, Europe’s largest video solutions company, has been appointed sole UK distributor by UbiCast, the French developer of lecture capture and online training systems.

UbiCast is a new vendor to the UK, providing a unique application for the growing market in lecture and conference capture. Imago, which has been successfully marketing the UbiCast range in France, believes that it offers ease of operation, unique features and benefits and the best price performance. The UbiCast product augments and enhances the rich media capture and broadcasting solutions that Imago is currently offering to its reseller channel.

UbiCast takes a different approach to presentation/lecture capture and webcasting. The EasyCast product range spans the entire process of Rich Media creation, editing and sharing (and analytics) with easy-to-use, highly automated capture appliances and a WebTV portal for storing and streaming content.

Common applications include corporate training and communications and eLearning in education establishments, but the solution is applicable to any location in which presentations are being made and important information is being imparted.  That information is recorded, organised, made searchable and distributed, live or on-demand, on the Internet or through an intranet. UbiCast’s unique technology is already used by clients such as the California-based Linux Foundation to record its worldwide conferences, Total Oil and Alcatel-Lucent for internal training, Euronext for external communications and major French universities such as La Sorbonne for lecture capture.

Imago is aiming the product initially at its reseller partners in the corporate and education markets.  Peter Nice, Head of New Business at Imago Group, said: “EasyCast’s user-friendliness will win deals in the corporate market, and research suggests Human Resources applications are those that are most often initially implemented following installation of a system.  For the education market we have introduced a specific product line for first-time users, which combines an easily integrated, high quality solution at an entry-level cost. UbiCast’s willingness to introduce the special ‘Education Starter System’ and their dedicated effort to launch the range in the UK, illustrates their commitment to ensuring their product offerings are right for their target market sectors.”

Tanguy Yu, CEO of UbiCast is enthusiastic about the new partnership. He said: “Imago’s experience in working with the reseller sector in niche markets is the key to our decision to work closely with the group and the opportunity to introduce our products into Imago’s International channels was also an important influence on the UbiCast decision”.
