Guidance Software Appoints New Sales Leader for EMEA and APAC Regions
Sam Maccherola will manage the strategic direction and lead business development across Europe, Midd

Released: 15th February 2013
Publisher: Guidance Software

Slough, United Kingdom – 15 February 2013 – Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:GUID) today announced the appointment of Sam Maccherola as Vice President of Sales for the Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific regions. Based in London, Mr. Maccherola will be responsible for managing the strategic direction of the organisation, as well as all operations, sales, and business development across these regions.

Mr. Maccherola has more than 20 years of experience in managing and directing global business operations within the software industry, with a specific focus on information technology (IT) security, systems management, and systems integration. Prior to taking on his new role, Mr. Maccherola served as a Vice President of Sales for Guidance Software responsible for managing the Federal Government and Northeastern U.S. sales teams.

Before joining Guidance Software, Mr. Maccherola was the Vice President of Sales for IT security company HBGary, and prior to that, he was the President of Tenix America. Mr. Maccherola also held senior positions with Tumbleweed, Entrust Technologies, Platinum Technologies, and Legent Corporation.

In addition to his professional experience, Maccherola was recognised by a panel of government and industry leaders as one of Federal Computer Week’s “Federal 100,” representing the 100 people who made a positive difference in government IT. Mr. Maccherola is an active member in industry associations that promote public-private sector information sharing and partnerships, including the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA). He also volunteers to raise funds and awareness for various Wounded Warrior programs, including “Help for Heroes.”

“I'm looking forward to driving our EMEA and APAC plans to build our EnCase® customer base within these regions. There is now significant pressure on IT teams to protect their organisation's data whilst both managing the explosion of new devices and addressing increasing regulatory and compliance requirements,” said Mr. Maccherola. “Guidance Software has long been the leader in delivering forensic solutions, and has leveraged that expertise to introduce groundbreaking cyber security and e-discovery solutions. The company is well positioned to help organisations worldwide to meet these challenges by responding quickly to minimise disruption, cost and reputational damage, in whatever form a digital investigation may take.”

A leader in digital investigations technology since 1997, Guidance Software products are used by corporate, government, and law-enforcement agencies around the world. EnCase® Cybersecurity has been widely adopted by IT security teams to help expose and mitigate the risks of cyber attacks and data breaches for a complete incident-response capability that expands on alerting-systems investments. In addition, many legal and IT departments build on the EnCase® Enterprise platform with EnCase® eDiscovery to reduce the risk and costs of e-disclosure whilst gaining oversight of the process from end to end.
