Uses and benefits of SaaS-based Enterprise Social Networking

This survey looked at the business arguments for using an enterprise social networking (ESN) system based on software as a service (SaaS). We also investigated decision makers' views on the comparative qualities of SaaS based systems and those based on software hosted internally or off-site.

The findings in this report will be of value to decisionmakers in user organisations that are considering the use of a SaaS-based enterprise social network. It will also help anybody who wants a better understanding of user organisations' views on those networks.

Suppliers and resellers in particular can use it to validate their market position and product strategy. From it, they can also gain valuable market intelligence to feed into their R&D process for product and service improvement.

The analysis is based on a sample of 121 responses, mostly from managers and directors, including IT managers and CIOs. They represent over half a million users. The survey ran on-line, finishing in May 2011.
