IT Jobs for Graduates launches Student IT Innovation Awards Students given the chance to win a year's worth of tuition fees

Released: 12th October 2009
Publisher: Publicite Ltd

IT Jobs for Graduates http://www.itjobsforgraduates.com/, in partnership with J.P. Morgan, has launched The Student IT Innovation Awards 2009, http://studentitinnovationawards.com/, in a bid to find the entrepreneur who will come up with the next ‘techie' idea that could change the business world.

The competition is open to students in all years of study attending any university in the UK. The winner will be awarded a year's worth of tuition fees[1] and the chance to have their five minutes of fame via a winner's press release, that will give readers the opportunity to learn more about their innovative idea.

Students are encouraged to write proposals for a technological concept in a work environment, or a platform for a new business. The idea could cover any of the following:

  • Process efficiency - Identify a technology to improve an organisation's internal processes.
  • Software - new software solutions that would have an application within a business.
  • Green - inventing energy efficient solutions, in the world of ‘green'.
  • Educational - setting up tools that may be useful in advancing student learning.

Submitted proposals should be sent with a short covering letter and CV, highlighting why a student believes they should be shortlisted for The Student IT Innovation Awards 2009. Those awarded with the highest points in the business proposal screening stage will be invited to present their ideas to a panel of judges.

Final submissions are to be received no later than 13th November. Finalists will be notified by 18th November, and the judging and winner's announcement will be on 1st December.

Commenting on the awards, Jamie Bowler, head of marketing at IT Jobs for Graduates, said: "Setting yourself apart from the competition is key for graduates looking to enter the workforce, particularly given the current economic climate. This is why differentiating yourself, and building a personal profile have each become increasingly important.

"The judges will be looking for creativity, business reality, critical thinking, feasibility and technical application. These awards offer one budding IT professional the chance to shine, and the opportunity to decrease their university tuition fee debt."
