Reading, UK, 22nd June 2009 - Intermec (NYSE:IN) has entered into a European distribution agreement with the world's largest technology distributor, Ingram Micro. The expanded relationship will strengthen Intermec's distribution channel and provide more extensive local coverage in the Nordics, Germany, Iberia and the UK.
Through Ingram Micro, technology buyers in key markets across Europe will be able to obtain Intermec's full range of solutions including the recently announced CN50 and CN4, while continuing to benefit from the trusted relationship they have with the value-added distributor.
"At Intermec, we have been strengthening our distribution strategy as we shift towards a more channel-centric business model," said John Klinker, senior director, EMEA channel at Intermec. "We work with select, best-of-breed distributors that represent our solutions effectively and help customers be more efficient. Ingram Micro meets that important requirement by consistently demonstrating its expertise in AIDC distribution and providing services that support our partner community."
"We're proud to be working closely with Intermec and support its growing footprint in Europe," said Johan Vandenbussche, vice president business development, Ingram Micro EMEA. "From the beginning of our relationship with them, through French distributor Eurequat which we acquired in November 2008, we were impressed with Intermec's broad range of solutions and we're pleased that our business partners across Europe will have access to their products and services."
Intermec will benefit from Ingram Micro's large customer database, brand presence, technical support and customer financial services. And Intermec will gain insight into Ingram Micro's strategy for automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) distribution, as applied to a massive international business.
