In this paper we will describe the nuances of clusterbased technologies and the challenges in making clusters easier and simpler to work with (more like an SMP-based approach). Finally, we will conclude by considering how Waratek, a newcomer to the market, has succeeded in delivering a solution that delivers the performance and reliability of SMP, that leverages clusters of low-cost x86 server hardware, but without the administration, management and other challenges that are traditionally associated with cluster computing.
