Farnborough, UK, 10th December 2012 – Autodesk, a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, has announced a three-year strategic deal with global architecture, urbanism and design practice Broadway Malyan. The agreement, worth £1.2 million, sees Autodesk supporting the practice’s transition to a fully-integrated cloud-based building information modelling (BIM) strategy.
Broadway Malyan had used Autodesk’s BIM offerings previously on ad hoc projects, but as part of its international growth strategy the practice is now investing in a new globally-coordinated approach across its 16 offices, with the practice having opened four new bases and delivered projects in 41 countries in the last year alone. The move will also enable the practice to pass on technological-driven efficiencies to clients, in line with its distinctive client focus. For this, Broadway Malyan will integrate the latest Autodesk BIM cloud technologies, including BIM 360™ Glue, a data-centric management system for building and infrastructure projects into its global workflows. This enables it to simplify BIM co-ordination across its international project teams.
“In our role as lead consultant on major global projects, BIM’s ability to drive enhanced coordination and design collaboration is a key benefit,” says Martin Bates, director, Broadway Malyan. “Also, it will enable us to stay ahead of the pack, respond to client demand and the trend for more projects being delivered in BIM. We consider being fully BIM-enabled is becoming a prerequisite of winning global business.”
As part of the global agreement with Autodesk, Broadway Malyan will receive a significant number of licences of the Autodesk® Building Design Suite, an integrated building design software portfolio, featuring BIM and CAD tools, a Global licence use agreement and 500 licences of Autodesk® Buzzsaw® data management and collaboration software.
Broadway Malyan has also decided to consolidate its use of Autodesk licences internationally to benefit from procuring centrally and to secure better control, enable flexibility and provide licence optimisation globally. This will enable it to access the right licences at the right time anywhere in the world and proactively share them, while delivering a more flexible way of working and a more cohesive approach to global service delivery. Autodesk Consulting is providing strategic support to the implementation and deployment of the new solutions and workflows. Autodesk will also be delivering training on the software and will collaborate closely with Broadway Malyan on the development and testing of new solutions.
“Ultimately, the deal with Autodesk is not only about migrating to BIM and buying the latest software, important though that is,” adds Bates. “We see it as being as much about investing in partnership, consulting and shared research and development. Migrating to a global approach to BIM with a technology partner like Autodesk will allow us to coordinate design work across our global office network, enhance our competitiveness and offer the very best service to clients.”
“Broadway Malyan is an innovative architectural practice with a successful international growth strategy,” says Phil Bernstein, Vice President, Strategic Industry Relations, Autodesk. “By building its global proposition around BIM and by consolidating around Autodesk software, it is positioning itself to be a leading player in the AEC industry both today and long into the future.”
