Pace-setting environmental technology specialist ADAM International has brokered a ground-breaking secondment deal with BT to enable the company to expand into new markets.
Stockport-based ADAM - which counts Marks & Spencer, Boots and HMV/Waterstone's among its clients - has turned the recession on its head, with a record order book from major high street retailers and other blue chip companies.
Now this initial partnership agreement will see a group of BT engineers seconded to ADAM International. This will enable a new tranche of companies to access ADAM's revolutionary web-based, wireless building energy management systems, which help organisations to dramatically cut costs and control energy use.
As part of the secondment deal, six BT engineers have been retrained and will install ADAM's SMARTbuilding systems. The agreement will then be extended and expanded to include a wider pool of BT engineers, thus enabling ADAM International to further accelerate its national roll-out programme. The move follows a significant increase in demand driven by the need to achieve energy savings and lower the carbon footprint.
Other major companies and organisations, particularly multi-site operators, are also following suit because of the cost savings achieved and lower carbon emissions.
ADAM's market leading technology - the only one to feature wireless and web-enabled capability - usually enables installation within 2 or 3 days rather than weeks and creates minimal disruption to the business compared to the substantial work normally required during installation of traditional hard-wired technology.
Simon Gamble, Finance Director, Field Engineering, BT Operate, said: "In the current economic climate this is a commercially practical and innovative approach.
"It means our engineers are able to increase their skills base and enables more companies to access cutting edge technology that will allow them to reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy consumption and cut costs.
"We're already seeing retailers looking to sweat their existing assets as far as possible and this is sparking plenty of demand for IT projects with quick payback. Where bottom line improvement can be demonstrated, retailers are more than willing to embrace new technology."
Steve Dillon, managing director of ADAM International, added: "This is a win-win-win situation. It allows us to fully capitalise on the record order book which we have this year and to accelerate the installation of this leading edge technology to help more companies to save money by significantly reducing their energy use and, most importantly, helping the environment."
Energy consumption can be cut by up to 30% and also reduce planned maintenance costs by 10-15%, as the SMARTbuilding system can remotely diagnose potential call outs before they become business-critical using the web-enabled technology.
The company has built up an enviable track record for SMARTbuilding solutions that enable companies to achieve best practice estates management by reducing energy consumption, maintenance costs and carbon emissions, as well as improving new-build design templates.
ADAM also provides a fully managed, post-installation service, SMARTsupport, targeted at delivering further benefits in terms of business-critical alarm monitoring, building performance analysis and maintenance management.
Having successfully designed systems for the most demanding of technical environments, ADAM launched the world's first web-enabled, wireless building energy management system. This innovation enables companies to deploy systems rapidly, unobtrusively and at typically 40% less than the cost of conventional alternatives.
Crucially, the eradication of installation cabling and lower cost base makes ADAM's systems commercially viable for even the smallest buildings.
