Manchester City FC Site takes the glory as the 2009 Sitecore Site of the Year - UK

Top category awards also presented to Kia Motors, Audley Travel, JISC, Victim Support, Zuken and Ellesse

London, UK, 5th October, 2009 - At the recently held Sitecore 2009 Site of the Year Awards - UK- hosted by Sitecore, a leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) software - the new Manchester City Football Club (http://www.mcfc.co.uk/) website, built by Sitecore implementation partner Aqueduct, grabbed top honours. The Manchester City FC site, designed by Poke, was commended as the best showcase example of the innovative use of Sitecore technology in the year 2009.

Kia Motors (implementation partner E3 Media), Audley Travel (True Clarity), Zuken (3Sixty), Ellesse (Athlon Production) and Victim Support and JISC (Eduserv) also picked up best in category awards.

Each year Sitecore's Site of the Year Awards recognises customers who have used Sitecore's technology to develop some of the world's most outstanding websites. Sitecore's partners and customers submit nominations on organisations that have implemented Sitecore's CMS to solve various business problems to advance their online strategies. Nominations are judged on the creative use of technology, design, integration, ability to engage and educate as well as the overall user experience the site is able to deliver to visitors.

"We are very pleased with the look and feel of the site which makes extensive use of a number of disparate content technologies that are integrated through Sitecore CMS," said Victoria Stansfield, digital delivery manager at Manchester City FC. "We completed the entire site over 6 months which seemed a daunting task at the time considering the number of third parties we relied on for integration."

"We worked closely with the creative agency Poke to ensure the site's envelope-pushing designs were implemented flawlessly," added Guillaume Buat-Ménard, technical director of Aqueduct. "This was the biggest single development job we have undertaken and we had only 2½ months from initial scoping to launch."

"Manchester City FC's website achieved an immediate overwhelming response with 90,000 unique visits on launch day processing orders worth more than £50,000 in just 24 hours," said Simon Bartolo, managing director, Sitecore UK. "This is a fantastic result and a prime example of the kind of business return customers can achieve using Sitecore."

"The continued evolution of Sitecore and the richness of available integrated business web applications resulted in the highest ever standard of entries," said Laust Sondergaard, chairman, Sitecore UK. "On behalf of Sitecore I should like to extend my congratulations to all our partners whose innovation and creativity gave those of us on the judging panel the incredibly difficult task of picking a winner."

Sitecore Site of the Year Awards - UK was held on the 1st of October with over 100 of Sitecore's most valuable partners and customers attending a Champagne reception in London. The Sitecore Site of the Year contest is divided into four regions comprising International, Denmark, UK and North America.
