Checkprint, part of the TALL Group of Companies, has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special event in Hinckley, Leicestershire. More than 100 employees, customers, industry partners and local dignitaries attended the festivities including Lady Gretton, the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, and Councillor Jeff Bannister, Deputy Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
Speaking at the Hinckley Island Hotel to commemorate the success of the business over the past two decades, Martin Ruda, Managing Director of the TALL Group of Companies said: “Without the talent and sheer capacity for hard work that exists throughout the Checkprint team none of this would have been possible. Therefore, I would like to thank everyone that has been part of the company over the past 20 years and contributed to its ongoing success. 2012 was another record year for Checkprint, which was underpinned by our commitment to look after our customers whatever their needs and develop the most innovative range of products and services currently available.”
Lady Gretton commented: “I am delighted to be here to celebrate this landmark event for Checkprint, a company that is making a positive contribution to Leicestershire and supporting the wellbeing of the local community. The company’s success has been accomplished through forward thinking, innovation and being adept at managing change, especially during the challenging economic climate of the past few years. Everyone can be very proud of this achievement and look forward to a positive future as Checkprint continues to break new ground within the marketplace.”
Checkprint started operations in Hinckley in 1993 as the UK Cheques & Forms Division of US cheque printer Deluxe Corporation. Having become one of the first Cheque and Credit Clearing Company accredited printers in 1995, it was involved in a management buy-out in 1997 and became part of the TALL Group of Companies in 1999 as the business was merged with longstanding trading partner TALL Security Print.
Later that year, Checkprint launched the Customer Auto Replenishment Service (CARS), a multi-location cheque and credit stock control system, and in 2000, the company doubled the size of its secure premises in Hinckley to create a 13,500 sq ft production facility to accommodate business growth. Since then the company has gone on to develop a wide range of market leading secure print services and payment solutions including Checkprint Solution, Outsourced Statement Services, Banking Assistant and most recently launched SEND in conjunction with C.A. Technologies.
Checkprint’s success has also been recognised in recent years with a number of industry accolades such as winning the Regional Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year category at the National Business Awards in 2003 and the Queens Award for Enterprise in 2005. In addition, the company was named as one of the Top 50 SME Companies To Work For by the Sunday Times in 2004.
“Over the past 20 years we have created a sustainable business that has grown and adapted in the face of a changing industry. This has been achieved through the strength of our team, continued investment in products and services, engaging with the local community, and targeting of new international markets. As a result, we have more than doubled the turnover of the business since the management buy-out and can look forward to further success moving forward,” Ruda concluded.
