Mencap, the UK’s leading learning disability charity providing services, advice and support to thousands of people with learning disabilities and their families, has awarded CACI a major 7 year contract to implement a Management Information Solution across its Personal Support Division. The new system will be one of the largest implementations of CACI’s OfficeBase care provider management system to date, handling the core support records of over 9,000 people and the management and scheduling of over 6,000 staff.

Mencap’s Personal Support Division focusses on helping people with a learning disability make choices and live their lives the way they want. Support is provided in many ways including Registered Care Homes for Adults, Domiciliary Care, Supported Living Services, Employment Services, Day Services, Advocacy, and Specialist Education colleges. Mencap is determined to transform many of the key processes for delivering this support through standardising, streamlining and ensuring quality and accuracy of information held.

OfficeBase from CACI will be used to provide a holistic solution, managing the end to end processes from acquiring a customer through to discharge, HR aspects such as staff recruitment, training, compliance and pay, and finance elements such as contract management, billing and credit control. These will be implemented with comprehensive management information, secure web and mobile user interfaces, as well as integration with existing key systems. Importantly the system will support Mencap’s Service Managers through enabling effective staff utilisation and accurate capture of work completed on the many contracts across the division. Comprehensive and instantaneous information on clients and their services will be available, enabling personalisation and ensuring the quality of service delivered is a good as it can possibly be.

Mencap expects key benefits to be realised from introduction of the system which as well as dramatically improving efficiency and consistency across the division, will also enable transparency of operations both internally and externally.

Commenting on the contract Ollie Watson, Director at CACI, said, “Following a rigorous procurement process we are very proud to be entrusted by market leader Mencap as its partner to deliver a solution which supports such an important transformation programme in the organisation. There is great enthusiasm and commitment from both teams now to really push the technology to deliver and enhance Mencap’s service provision.”

Concluding, Kate McLeod, Project Sponsor, Mencap, said, “We embarked on this project nearly 2 years ago with an ambition to provide our service delivery teams with the best possible tools so that they can focus on supporting people with learning disabilities to the best of their ability.  We are very excited to be finally ready to make this a reality and look forward to a successful partnership with CACI. “
