Global information technology solutions company Mindtree has opened its first delivery centre outside India in Gainsville, Florida. This centre is part of the company’s strategy to broaden its IT and software consulting offerings to its clients.

Since the project was announced in March, 47 people have been hired and a total of 400 new jobs will be created over the next five years together with a $2.925 million capital investment in the new centre. To date, Mindtree has invested more than $1.6 million in the project.

"We are very happy to be completing our first U.S. Delivery Centre," said Scott Staples, president, Americas at Mindtree. "Mindtree has received great support and we are ready to bring our expertise and unique corporate culture to Florida. This was a big team effort and one that is extremely important to our company.”

“It is easy to see the positive impact that Mindtree has already made in the Gainesville and Florida community and I am confident that we will continue to see great things in the future,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. “Our economy is headed in the right direction and we will continue our efforts to attract companies like Mindtree that can provide needed jobs for our residents.”

Mindtree announced its U.S. expansion in March, choosing Gainesville over sites in Alabama and South Carolina.
