ComputerWeekly.com — Tesco uses heat sensors to track customer flow

Will Hadfield — 4 October 2006
Tesco has improved its customer service by installing heat sensors that can identify bottlenecks of people as they move around its shops.

The UK's largest retailer is using the technology to stop congestion at tills and in store aisles. By improving the flow of customers around its stores, Tesco says it is maximising revenue and improving customer satisfaction.

Wouldn’t sheepdogs be cheaper?

Keep movin’, movin’, movin’,
Though they’re disapprovin’,
Keep them shoppers movin’, storeside.
Don’t try to understand ‘em,
Just dope ‘em, flow and brand ‘em.
Soon we’ll be livin’ high and wide.
My heart’s calculatin’,
My bonus will be waitin’,
Be waitin’ at the end of my ride.
