Bloor Research

Peter's varied IT and industry experience spans over 40 years. He is widely respected in the IT industry for his breadth and depth of technology and business knowledge. Peter joined Bloor in late 2004 after four years as a writer and correspondent on IT.

His early experience was primarily with computer manufacturer NCR, for whom he worked in a number of technical roles including programmer, systems analyst and installation consultant, later graduating to project manager responsible for major software developments in the banking, retail and health sectors. In the late 1980s he became NCR's national marketing manager for the logistics and manufacturing vertical sectors.

In 1993 he joined a high-tech marketing company where he wrote promotional and technical material for companies such as Digital (DEC), Kyocera Europe and RS Components. This was followed by a period as information systems manager for a pipework tools manufacturer.

In October 2000, Peter joined IT news magazine IT Week (part of VNU Business Publications) where he reported on a broad spread of technology and business issues. In November 2001 he became a founding team member in the VNU News Centre, and provided articles for VNUnet web site and its business IT publications: IT Week, Computing, Network News and Computer Reseller News. In his four years he wrote some 2000 articles including some top level interviews with IT industry leaders and reports and analysis from international events. Peter latterly wrote regular newsletters on open source and business hardware.
